The environment must be respected at all times, especially in a protected area such as Marina di Vecchiano. Never forget that you are in a nature reserve, even when you are eating an ice-cream on the sea shore or when sunbathing. Above all, always remember that you are near forests rich in plants and fauna therefore, do not light fires or leave inflammable objects. Even a cigarette end, discarded from a car can be the cause of devastating fires when it is windy and the vegetation dry.
If you see a fire, immediately call the fire brigade on 115.
The beach has a limited number of parking spaces. Therefore, on Sundays, during the summer months, a free shuttle service operates allowing you to leave your car at one of the large grassy parking areas about kilometre from the beach.
As there are no lifeguards monitoring long stretches of the beaches, do not take risks when in the sea. In the summer, the Livorno harbour office and the Marina di Vecchiano voluntary service operate a lifeguard service. For further information contact the afformentioned organisations.
For your own safety and to avoid incurring fines, always pay attention to the signs at the entrances to the footpaths that access the beach.
